Lyon Park has been opened as a symbol of friendship between Yerevan and Lyon

Lyon Park, a symbol of Yerevan-Lyon friendship has been opened solemnly in Erebuni administrative district.
Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan and Lyon mayor Gerard Kolomb cutting the red ribbon announced the start of Lyon Park. The foundation of Lyon Park was implemented within the frames of cooperation program of 2008-2011 signed between the mayors of Yerevan and Lyon. The capital works of the park were started in 2010. The reconstruction will be continued by the second stage of the program.
The mayor of Yerevan is sure that this park will become one of the favourite recreation zones of Yerevan townspeople. Lyon mayor in his turn noted that with the opening of the park would serve a ground for the implementation of new joint programs.
According to the program of the park reconstruction, new external lighting system and irrigation network have been installed in the area, they have formed lawns, planted trees, the old pavements have been replaced with new ones, public bowers have been built.
Benches and modern bowers have been placed for townspeople recreation, and the children have got various games and playgrounds. Everything has been done with loving care and taste. The design has been carried out by Armenian and French specialists. The park has an innovation as well. Visitors can test their strength in famous French game, bul. The first example has been shown by the two mayors. Afterwards the mayors of Yerevan and Lyon together with other visitors watched the surfing show organized in the water pool.
